engineering Support
At Miller Diversified Machining, we have an on-site mechanical engineer that can assist customers during the development phase of a project. Our engineer works with the customers to improve quality and producibility and often makes suggestions to reduce manufacturing costs that are passed on to our customers.
Our machining staff utilizes Mastercam extensively as a programming and modeling tool to ensure complex devices are machined properly. Mastercam is capable of using AutoCAD and Pro-E files created by our customers. This reduces programming time and eliminates mistakes.
file formats
- AutoCAD (DWG, DWZ)
- BMP—Bit Mapped Graphics
- DXF—Drawing Interchange Format or Drawing Exchange Format
- GIF- Graphics Interchange Format
- IGES—Initial Graphics Exchange Specification, ANSI file format
- JPG or JPEG—Joint Photographic Experts Group
- MasterCam (MDX, MC8, MC9, SET)
- PDES—Product Data Exchange using STEP, Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data. A standard format for exchanging data between advanced CAD and CAM programs
- PDF- Portable Document Format

PROJECT PLANNING & INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
Quality machining is our foundation, but we offer additional services to make your life easier. Need to reduce your inventory and budget? We have implemented a Kanban system with many customers and can assist you in reducing your inventory costs. We’ll manage your inventory, then deliver and invoice your products on a just-in-time basis.
Our planning staff manages all of your products in our database and maintains a detailed history of your products. If you ever have questions about piece part count discrepancies, revision levels, or delivery dates, give us a call and we can give you that information immediately.
You can rest assured that there will be complete traceability of your product from start to finish. If requested, we will provide Certificates of Conformance for all deliveries and detailed inspection plans in compliance with your requirements.
INSPECTION SERVICES
We have on-site inspection equipment that allows us to continuously inspect our products to ensure compliance with your quality requirements. We have a wide range of micrometers, calipers, indicators, height stands, etc. to measure your parts. If complex parts require inspection, we also have a Micro-Vu Optical CMM with touch probes. We’ve also invested in a Keyence instant measuring system that is used extensively on the shop floor to monitor production on a continuous basis.
All of our equipment is calibrated and certified per national standards by a qualified outside service.
ON-SITE CMM INSPECTION CAPABILITY
If other CMM needs are required, we also have an on-site CMM subcontractor located in our building. Mic-Right Inspection Services, owned and operated by Dean Carlson, has a number of different Zeiss and Micro-Vu machines capable of inspecting complex parts. Dean has over 30 years of CMM programming and inspection experience and is also an expert on geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. This on-site capability has been instrumental in our development of new complex components.
